Back in early 2010 we visited our friends in the lovely village of Elston. We were amazed to see that the Village pub was boarded up and closed, another statistic for rural pub closures. The building looked perfect for our Brewery and the pub touched our hearts. Who couldn't fall in love with the charms of Elston? We decided then and there that we would rescue it! We knew we had a lot of work to do but we were determined to open the doors of The Chequers as soon as possible. Almost derelict in parts we were unable to move straight in so we lived in our old VW camper in the car park whilst we brought the pub back to life. 

 

We have been here nearly five years now, our Brewery is on site and we live a very happy life in Elston.  The Chequers is a very traditional rural pub whose values harp back to the good old days when conversation was king! We proudly don't show any sports, we don't have TV's (unless it's a Final!) or gaming machines. Well behaved children are welcome until 8pm and dogs on leads are welcome at all times, as long as they are cat friendly. 

The Chequers is our home and we are very proud to welcome you to share it with us. 

We aren't a foody pub but we do serve hand made Pizzas every Friday night and run a monthly pie club. Home made cobs available at all other times. We do welcome bookings for parties or celebrations and we are happy to cater for these as well as funerals.
